Jesus. Jesus Renews all things!
Jesus Renews individuals
- Grace Renewal. The grace of Jesus Christ renews us from the inside out. We don’t bring anything to the table, nor do we need to get all cleaned up to impress God. Rather, we need to be touched by the grace of Jesus because He alone can bring dead things to life.
- City Positive. Jesus makes us a church for the City. Cities are filled with people and Jesus loves people. Therefore, we as a church are called to love and serve the city and its people.
- Prayer Focused. Jesus makes us a people of prayer. He helps us realize how powerless we are, in and of ourselves, to do what He has called us to do (creating humility); yet, at the same time, he reminds us of how powerful we can be in and through Him (creating boldness). So Jesus stirs us to pray with a bold humility as we seek the renewal of all people and things.
Jesus Renews Churches
- Movement mindset. Jesus makes us all pastors. Jesus empowers all God’s people for ministry. So we will encourage Christians to serve the city. And we will partner with churches and ministries to work for a great city.
- Outward face. Jesus makes us a church for others. Jesus gives us respect, love and hope for every non-Christian, and He enables us not to live for ourselves but for His renewing presence to be made known among our neighbors and neighborhoods.
- Vital community. Jesus makes true friendship possible. Jesus frees us to be real friends. Without Jesus, we look to others for our significance, security and satisfaction. Jesus fulfills these longings, freeing us to love unconditionally.
Jesus Renews Cities
- Church Planting. Jesus renews cities spiritually. Jesus energizes the planting of new churches. It will take, not a church, but a movement of church planting churches to renew the bi-national city of San Diego and Tijuana (and through it the cities of the world).
- Marketplace Ministry. Jesus renews cities culturally. Jesus enables Christians to work in their vocations with Christian distinctiveness, excellence and integrity, thus transforming the culture in which we live from the inside out.
- Community Development. Jesus renews cities socially. Jesus gets at the root of social problems. Sin causes social injustice and brokenness. We will seek to follow Jesus as He heals the city socially—through mercy and justice and community development.
